I'm in the beginning stages of constructing an essay on how the media affects our body image and am having a hard time making a thesis statement for this. I know exactly what I will talk about but every time I try to put it into a thesis statement, it just doesn't sound right.

What I have at the moment What I have at the moment is: As the media portrays what is considered attractive or unattractive in society, the more problems people have with their own body image, resulting in disorders, and drastic measures being taken to try to live up to this unrealistic societal expectation.

What I have now describes what I will address in the essay, however, I feel like the way I have it worded just doesn't sound right, or could sound better.
